Origination of Poker:

The game forms a crucial part of the US culture. The history and the origination of the game is a debatable topic. The birth of the game can be debated back to first or second decade of the 19th century. The game is first known to appear in New Orleans, a former French territory ceded to the United States by the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. This marks USA as the father of this game. The game that was born in New Orleans popularized like a virus throughout the country, courtesy Mississippi boats, which were a favorite gambling haunt. At this point, poker was a 20 game card which was than replaced by 52 deck game in 1837. During the period of 1857, joker was included in the deck, which marked the end of European influence on the game if any, and the game became completely Americanized. The game developed further and further with passing periods, with different time periods witnessing different aspects of the game-poker.

1970 is considered as the first year to see the beginning of the first world series of poker, and after that the popularity of the game throughout the world has seen no ends. Poker is not only confined to World Series but was followed by many other world wide series like the shooting star, the legends of poker to name a few.
